QR Table Ordering From the Guest’s Own Phone

Guests scan the code on their table, order and pay from their own phone, and every order reaches your staff and your kitchen tagged with the table it came from.

QR table ordering turns every table into an ordering point: guests scan a code on the table, browse your full menu on their own phone, order and pay — without flagging anyone down.

On Supaorder it runs on your branded ordering, from the same menu and prices as your app and website. Tables are real records in the dashboard, not a number typed at checkout, so the table on every order is the table whose code was scanned.

For the guest

Scan, order, pay, order again

Five steps on the guest’s own phone. No app download, no waiting for the bill to start the next round.

Scan

The guest scans the code on their table with their phone camera.

Browse

Your branded menu opens in the phone’s browser, already linked to that table. No app to install — and guests who have your app get the same experience there.

Order

Items, variants and add-ons, with notes. Each guest at the table can order from their own phone, so nobody has to assemble one big order.

Pay

Card, Apple Pay or Google Pay straight away — or pay at the table, by cash or card terminal, if you allow it.

Order again

Guests see the order’s status as the kitchen works, and scan again for the next round.

For your staff

Orders that say where they go

QR orders land with every other order. They arrive on the partner app’s live orders board with the table name in the order details. Staff accept, the kitchen prepares, and the order is served at the table — there is no delivery or pickup handover.

The kitchen sees the table too. The kitchen ticket prints with the table name, and the order reaches the kitchen display like any other. Set up kitchen printing before you launch: the printed ticket with the table on it is what keeps a busy floor organised.

Pay-at-table orders show what is still due, and staff record the payment when they settle the table. Service charges for dine-in and tipping at checkout are configured like any other charge.

QR ordering sits beside the rest of table service rather than replacing it: the register still runs tables and tabs, servers can still take orders on the floor, and guests who would rather order at a screen by the door have the self-order kiosk. The whole set is on the features page.

Setting up

Four steps from floor plan to first order

Done in the dashboard, per outlet. If a code is damaged, photographed or stuck on the wrong table, Replace issues that one table a new code and the old one stops working.

  1. 1

    Define your tables

Under Floor & Tables for the outlet: a name or number that matches the floor (Table 1, Patio 3, Bar 2), its seats, and a section if you use them.

  2. 2

    Generate the codes

One code per table, each unique to that table.

  3. 3

    Print the sheet

Print QR sheet puts every table’s code on one page. Reprinting never changes a code.

  4. 4

    Test one table

Scan it yourself, place a small order, and check it arrives with the right table before you go live across the floor.

FAQ

QR table ordering, answered

Do guests need to install an app?

No. Scanning the code opens your menu in the phone’s browser, already linked to the table. Guests who already have your branded app get the same experience there.

How do staff know where an order goes?

Every QR order arrives tagged with the table it was placed from. The table name shows in the order details on the partner app’s live orders board, and the kitchen ticket prints with it, so runners know where to take it.

Can a table order more than once?

Yes. Each scan starts a new order against the same table, so a second round of drinks is one more scan.

Can guests pay at the end of the meal instead?

If you allow it. You can offer payment online when ordering (card, Apple Pay or Google Pay), pay at the table, or both and let the guest choose. A pay-at-table order is placed unpaid and shows the amount still due, and staff record the cash or card-terminal payment when they settle the table.

What if a QR code is damaged or on the wrong table?

Choose Replace on that table in the dashboard. It issues a new code and the old one stops working; no other table is affected. Do not reuse one code across tables — the table on the order comes from the code that was scanned.

Can I use QR ordering for only part of the restaurant?

Yes. Only the tables you create get codes, so many restaurants start with one section or the patio, and keep paper menus on the tables while guests get used to it.

Is QR table ordering included in the plan?

Yes. Supaorder has no feature tiers: QR table ordering is in the same per-location price as your branded apps and the in-store suite.

What it costs: one per-location price, with QR ordering, the apps and the in-store suite inside it.
