Planning your launch in Australia
Set up local trading hours and validate counter payments
Plan your restaurant’s own ordering channel in Australian dollars, with the location fee covering the ordering apps and in-store suite. Use this Australia price list for direct-customer budgeting and confirm the payment, language and operating scope before onboarding.
Counter payment requirements
If your counter requires eftpos, identify the exact processor, reader and card-routing requirements before buying devices. A generic card-terminal integration does not establish support for your preferred local method.
Delivery areas and operating hours
Test suburb and postcode coverage with your actual delivery boundaries. For locations across Australian time zones, verify opening times and scheduled collection independently for each location.
Receipts and settlement
Bring your required GST receipt fields and merchant settlement currency to configuration review. Confirm processing, delivery and hardware charges separately from the software subscription.
Payment availability reference: Stripe Terminal card and reader support. Regional guidance reviewed . Confirm current provider eligibility during onboarding.
On the receipt · GST
GST on restaurant and takeaway food in Australia
The ATO taxes all food and drink consumed on the premises, all hot takeaway food and prepared meals at 10%, while basic food taken away cold can be GST-free. Hot meals take one rate either way; a cold basic item can be taxable eaten in and GST-free taken away.
| What is sold | Rate |
|---|---|
| Food and drink consumed on the premises | 10% |
| Hot takeaway food and prepared meals | 10% |
| Cold basic food taken away (not a prepared meal) | GST-free |
| Alcoholic drinks | 10% |
Some items change rate between eat-in and takeaway here. Bring a dine-in order and a takeaway order to the demo and confirm how both rates will be configured and printed on receipts before you launch.
Rates as published by the Australian Taxation Office, checked . This is general information, not tax advice; your accountant confirms the treatment of your menu, and the Supaorder subscription does not set it.

A restaurant launch checklist for Australia
Six things to settle at the demo and test before the first live order, drawn from how customers in Australia pay, order and expect to be kept informed.
-
Run one order end to end on each live payment path (Stripe, Stripe Terminal, Cash, card on delivery, card terminal) — success, decline and refund.
-
Name the on-request integrations your customers expect at the demo — PayID / PayTo — so the quote carries their scope and timeline.
-
Enable the storefront languages customers need (English) with reviewed translations.
-
Route order updates where customers read them (SMS) and send a test message before launch.
-
Decide the delivery model — DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, Shipday, Google Maps — and test a real address, a delivery zone edge and a cash-on-delivery reconciliation.
-
Bring your receipt and tax requirements to the demo; the subscription does not set them. Position against Uber Eats, DoorDash and Menulog with your own channel’s zero commission.
