Setup and costs to budget separately

  • Setup is currently waived for early customers.
  • Payment processing, third-party delivery, messaging usage, hardware and developer-account charges where applicable are separate from the location subscription.
  • Applicable VAT, GST or sales tax is excluded. Confirm the invoice currency, tax treatment and any custom integration work in your written quote.
  • These are direct-customer prices for new accounts. Existing signed terms remain in place; white-label partners set their own retail prices.

Planning your launch in Canada

Confirm CAD billing and the requirements of each province

Budget your restaurant platform in Canadian dollars and avoid confusing a US-dollar quote with a Canadian one. These are Supaorder direct-customer prices; restaurants buying through a separately branded partner follow that partner’s quote and terms.

CAD platform fees and customer payments

Confirm CAD invoicing and the settlement currency of your merchant account separately. The subscription currency does not determine the currency or fees on your payment processor’s settlement.

Counter payment methods

Review the exact processor, payment method and reader combination before buying hardware. Do not infer Interac acceptance from a generic card-terminal feature; validate the required method in your deployment.

Provincial and language needs

Bring province-specific receipt examples and identify where you need French as well as English. Supply reviewed translations and confirm the tax and customer-information configuration with your advisers.

On the receipt · GST/HST, and PST or QST where applicable

GST/HST on restaurant and takeaway food in Canada

The CRA zero-rates basic groceries but taxes heated food and sales at restaurants and similar establishments, so a prepared meal carries GST or HST whether it is eaten in, collected or delivered. The rate follows the province, and provinces outside the HST set their own sales-tax rules for restaurant meals.

GST/HST, and PST or QST where applicable rates on food in Canada
What is sold Rate
Restaurant meals, takeaway and delivered prepared food — federal GST 5%
The same in HST provinces (Ontario, the Atlantic provinces) 13%–15%
Alcoholic beverages Taxable at the GST/HST rate
Provincial sales tax in British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec and Saskatchewan Set by the province

Rates as published by the Canada Revenue Agency, checked . This is general information, not tax advice; your accountant confirms the treatment of your menu, and the Supaorder subscription does not set it.

Before you go live

A restaurant launch checklist for Canada

Six things to settle at the demo and test before the first live order, drawn from how customers in Canada pay, order and expect to be kept informed.

  1. Run one order end to end on each live payment path (Stripe, Finix, Cash, card on delivery, card terminal) — success, decline and refund.

  2. Name the on-request integrations your customers expect at the demo — Interac e-Transfer / Interac Debit — so the quote carries their scope and timeline.

  3. Enable the storefront languages customers need (English and French) with reviewed translations.

  4. Route order updates where customers read them (SMS and email) and send a test message before launch.

  5. Decide the delivery model — DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, Shipday, Google Maps — and test a real address, a delivery zone edge and a cash-on-delivery reconciliation.

  6. Bring your receipt and tax requirements to the demo; the subscription does not set them. Position against SkipTheDishes, Uber Eats and DoorDash with your own channel’s zero commission.

Pricing questions for Canada

How much does Supaorder cost in Canada?

Supaorder costs C$162 CAD per location per month for 1–3 locations in Canada. Unlimited orders and every app are included, with zero platform commission.

What does a four-location group pay in Canada?

Four locations cost C$548 CAD per month: four times C$137 CAD. The four-location rate applies to every location, with unlimited orders. Taxes and separately charged services are excluded.

What setup and external costs should I allow for?

Setup is currently waived for early customers. Payment processing, delivery providers, hardware and applicable taxes are separate. Confirm local-currency invoicing and any custom work in your quote.

Do these CAD prices replace a Canadian partner’s quote?

No. This page lists Supaorder direct pricing. A white-label partner sets its own retail prices and support terms. Existing customers keep their signed terms; compare your partner agreement with any new direct quote before switching.

Which payment methods can Supaorder take in Canada?

Live today: Stripe, Finix, Cash, card on delivery, card terminal. Built on request: Interac e-Transfer / Interac Debit. On-request integrations are scoped and given a timeline in your quote before launch, so name the methods your customers use at the demo.

What should I verify for Interac at a Canadian restaurant counter?

Verify the exact processor and reader, and demonstrate both a sale and an in-person refund. Stripe documents a specific Interac refund flow. Confirm that the selected deployment implements it before treating Interac as included.

What sales tax applies to restaurant and takeaway food in Canada?

Restaurant meals and heated or prepared food carry the 5% GST, or HST of 13% to 15% in the participating provinces, while basic groceries are zero-rated. Provinces outside the HST set their own sales tax rules. Confirm your receipt configuration with your accountant.
