Planning your launch in India
A local price, with payments checked before launch
Budget in rupees for your restaurant’s own ordering channel, with online orders and the in-store apps in one location fee. For agencies building an Indian restaurant portfolio, these are direct-customer reference prices; a white-label partner agrees separate commercial terms.
Payment account readiness
Confirm your processor and the exact checkout methods before scheduling launch. Stripe accounts in India are invite-only. INR pricing does not establish UPI support or automatic processor approval.
Menu and counter setup
Bring a sample menu with modifiers, delivery charges and your required GST receipt fields to the demo. Review the configured receipt with your adviser; a software subscription does not determine your tax treatment.
Language and delivery coverage
Choose the storefront languages your customers need and supply reviewed menu translations. Test local addresses, delivery zones and cash collection with a real order flow.

On the receipt · GST (CGST + SGST)
GST on restaurant and takeaway food in India
The GST Council treats takeaway and door delivery as restaurant service, so eat-in, takeaway and delivery share one rate; what changes the rate is the premises, not the order. The 56th Council meeting (rates in force from 22 September 2025) confirmed that a standalone restaurant cannot opt for 18% with credit, and the “specified premises” definition was revised in 2025 — confirm which side your outlet falls on.
| What is sold | Rate |
|---|---|
| Standalone restaurants, including takeaway and food delivery | 5% without input tax credit |
| Restaurants in hotels that are not “specified premises” | 5% without input tax credit |
| Restaurants in “specified premises” hotels (the Rs 7,500 room-value test) | 18% with input tax credit |
| Alcoholic liquor | Outside GST |
Rates as published by the GST Council, checked . This is general information, not tax advice; your accountant confirms the treatment of your menu, and the Supaorder subscription does not set it.

Before you go live
A restaurant launch checklist for India
Six things to settle at the demo and test before the first live order, drawn from how customers in India pay, order and expect to be kept informed.
-
Run one order end to end on each live payment path (Stripe, Cash, card on delivery, card terminal) — success, decline and refund.
-
Name the on-request integrations your customers expect at the demo — UPI, Razorpay, PhonePe / Paytm, Porter / Borzo — so the quote carries their scope and timeline.
-
Enable the storefront languages customers need (English and Hindi, plus the regional language of each city) with reviewed translations.
-
Route order updates where customers read them (WhatsApp) and send a test message before launch.
-
Decide the delivery model — Porter / Borzo, Shipday, Google Maps — and test a real address, a delivery zone edge and a cash-on-delivery reconciliation.
-
Bring your receipt and tax requirements to the demo; the subscription does not set them. Position against Zomato and Swiggy with your own channel’s zero commission.
