Planning your launch in the United States
Separate the platform bill from your payment and delivery costs
Price your own restaurant ordering channel in US dollars, from a single location to a restaurant group. Online ordering, loyalty and the in-store suite share a location fee, so adding a kitchen display does not introduce a separate software plan.
Card payments and terminals
The platform includes Stripe and Finix integrations. Confirm merchant approval, processing rates and the exact terminal model before ordering hardware; processor availability alone does not validate a device.
Pickup, delivery and tips
Run a pickup and a delivery order through the demo, including a tip, refund and failed-payment case. If you use a third-party delivery service, budget its charges separately from the Supaorder subscription.
More than one tax jurisdiction
For a group operating across states or cities, bring example receipts for each location. Confirm tax, service-charge and tipping configuration with your adviser before rolling out the same menu everywhere.

On the receipt · state and local sales tax
Sales tax on restaurant and takeaway food in the United States
The United States has no federal sales tax or VAT: each state, and often each city or county, sets its own rate and rules for restaurant food. New York, for example, taxes all food eaten on the premises but exempts some unheated, grocery-style items sold to go, so tax has to be set per location.
| What is sold | Rate |
|---|---|
| Federal VAT or sales tax | None |
| State and local sales tax on restaurant meals | Varies by state and locality |
| Example, New York: food or drink for on-premises consumption | Taxable, hot or cold |
| Example, New York: unheated, grocery-style items sold to go | Exempt (sandwiches always taxable) |
Whether eat-in and takeaway are taxed differently depends on the state. Bring a dine-in order and a takeaway order to the demo and confirm how both rates will be configured and printed on receipts before you launch.
Rates as published by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, as one example state, checked . This is general information, not tax advice; your accountant confirms the treatment of your menu, and the Supaorder subscription does not set it.

A restaurant launch checklist for the United States
Six things to settle at the demo and test before the first live order, drawn from how customers in the United States pay, order and expect to be kept informed.
-
Run one order end to end on each live payment path (Stripe, Finix, Stripe Terminal, Cash, card on delivery, card terminal) — success, decline and refund.
-
Confirm at the demo that no on-request integration is missing for your customers.
-
Enable the storefront languages customers need (English, with Spanish in many metros) with reviewed translations.
-
Route order updates where customers read them (SMS) and send a test message before launch.
-
Decide the delivery model — DoorDash Drive, Uber Direct, Nash, Shipday, Google Maps — and test a real address, a delivery zone edge and a cash-on-delivery reconciliation.
-
Bring your receipt and tax requirements to the demo; the subscription does not set them. Position against DoorDash, Uber Eats and Grubhub with your own channel’s zero commission.
